In an apparent dig at AAP over its poll pledge to reduce power bills, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday wondered how such promises could be made by political parties in states which are dependent on electricity supply from outside. "During every election, political parties promise free power... People need to think about these promises," said Modi at a renewable energy conference here. The parties make these promises in such states who rely on electricity supply from other states, he added. "Water accounts for a major chunk of the input cost of farmers. The cost of water is basically due to cost of power. We have to understand the problems farmers are facing," said Modi. Arvind Kejriwal-led AAP trounced the BJP in Delhi assembly polls. The party in its election manifesto had promised to cut electricity bills by half among other freebies. A day after the Arvind Kejriwal led Aam Aadmi Party registered a historic win by winning 67 seats in the 70-member Delhi Assembly, the Income Tax department on Wednesday issued a notice to the Aam Aadmi party in connection with a row over donations received by it. As per reports, the IT department has sought AAP's reply in connection with the case by February 16.The IT notice to AAP was issued days after a breakaway volunteer group of the party -  AAP Volunteer Action Manch (AVAM) - accused Kejriwal's party of receiving Rs 2 crore last year through four "dubious" companies. However, AAP categorically rejected the allegations made by the group and challenged the Centre to order a probe by any central investigation agency including CBI into the matter. The Indian government is expected to disclose the names of 60 Indians and entities as it has recently initiated tax evasion prosecution proceedings against them as part of its crackdown on black money accounts as reported in the HSBC bank's Geneva branch list. From the latest news those against whom legal action has been initiated include some corporates, business houses and other individuals as the Income Tax department has completed its probe and filed prosecution complaints against these entities, on the directions of the Special Investigation Team (SIT) constituted to tackle black money and illegal assets held by Indians abroad. They said the total amount in these accounts is estimated to be to the tune of Rs 1,500-1,600 crore.

New rates came into effect midnight last night. In New Delhi, petrol will now cost 58.91 rupees a liter, this was the lowest in 44 months, and diesel will cost 48.26 rupees a liter in Delhi, the lowest since April 2013.

This was very shocking incident, a 16 year old minor girl was gang raped by four auto drivers,at Hyderabad in Jubilee Hills.The four auto drivers received the girl and that girl in a auto. Lucknow: Over 70 Hindus have been allegedly converted to Christianity in Uttar Pradesh's Bahraich district. While district officials are probing the matter, a suspect from an outfit called India Hope Center has been arrested, police said. A district official said office bearers of the outfit are active in the Kamalpuri village and that they were trying to allure villagers into accepting Christianity. However, District Magist rate Satyendra Kumar said on Thursday that it has not been confirmed if the conversions took place. "We have send officials to the village and are trying to ascertain the veracity of the charges," he added. Kumar said the district administration was vigilant about such issues. Intelligence officials, however, said the India Hope Center activities "had picked up in the area" for the past few months, especially after the floods.
